Mrs. Charles Sherod
Mrs. Charles Sherod of Covington died in a private hospital March 26, at the age of 85. The former Anna Leone Knapp, daughter of the late Charles and Florence McNeal Knapp, she was a native of Sugar, Kans., and at the age of 16 she and her family crossed in a covered wagon from Oklahoma to Montana. During the many weeks in making the trip she kept a diary of events occurring. She and her family moved to Covington in 1954. She was the widow of the late Charles Earl Sherod and was a member of Alcovy United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan with Rev. Bob Justis and Rev. Robert (Buck) Ward officiating. Interment was in Lawnwood Memorial Park with Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home in charge. Serving as pallbearers were Meredith Clark, Ronald Clark, John Clark, Tommy Clark, Bob Hamby and Doug Hamby.
Surviving are a son, Ralph D. Sherod, Covington; daughters, Mrs. Dewey Hamby Jr., Social Circle; Mrs. Paul Gilbert, Big Timber, Mont.; Mrs. Bud Fisher, Ballentine, Mont.; Mrs. M. C. Clark, Covington; brothers, B. B. Knapp, McDonough; Edgar Knapp, Ryegate, Mont.; Frank Knapp, Boulder City, Nev.; sister, Mrs. Evelyn Spaller, Brooks; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
