Dies In Kalispell

 

 

Mrs. Arthur Berg received word Wednesday, Dec. 2, that her brother, William A. Briner, 75, had passed away early that morning in a Kalispell hospital. He had been in poor health with a heart condition for some time.

Mr. Briner was born in Cleveland, Tenn., Sept. 3, 1889, a son of Aaron and Della Briner. He came to Big Timber from Dubuque, Iowa, July 6, 1906, and worked on a ranch for his uncle George and other ranches.

He was married to Bessie Brannin in Big Timber on June 24, 1906. They moved to Peru, Ind., that same year. Deceased was a passenger train engineer on the Chesapeake & Ohio railroad there for 20 years.

While he and his family were spending a vacation here his wife passed away at Melville Oct. 19, 1919. Mr. Briner returned to Peru and resumed his railroad job, but returned to Big Timber in 1932.

He married Mae Buchanan at Conrad in April 1937 and they lived in the Flathead valley since that time. Deceased was a member of the carpenter’s union at Kalispell.

Survivors besides his widow are a daughter, Virginia Kremper of Newton, N. J., a son William S. Briner and an adopted son Joseph Briner, both of Santa Barbara, Calif.; also three step-daughters, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A son Orville preceded Mr. Briner in death in 1932.
