John Rowe, one of the oldest citizens in the community, died at his home in Sidney, Tuesday November 24. The cause of his death was the result of injuries received in the war. He had been an invalid for years and had not been able to go out of the house alone for eighteen years.

The deceased was born in Morgan county, Ohio, May 20, 1829. When a young man he went to New London, Ia. While there he was married to Louisana Stephens. April 9, 1858. They immediately moved to Fremont county and have made their home in Sidney ever since. In 1859 Mr. Rowe crossed the plains and returned two years later.

To this union was born eleven children. Six are now living, Chas D., S.W.S., Mrs Linnie M. Hickey, John, Mrs. Dollie Myers and Frances E. Hannum.

The funeral was held from his home today at 2 o’clock p.m. The sermon was preached by Rev. O. W. Lippincott and interment in the Sidney cemetery.

Mr. Rowe lived a good long life and has won the esteem of many. Although his later years were crowded full of bodily pain, he was patient to the last. The community extends their deepest sympathy to this aged wife and the children.
