For Dora Brannin

 

 

Mrs. Dora O. Brannin, who came to Sweet Grass county with her parents by covered wagon in 1897, died at the Columbus Rest Home Wednesday of last week. She had been a patient there for about two months. Death was attributed to infirmities of age.

Mrs. Brannin was born July 24, 1886, in Shawnee county Kansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Overhuls. The family moved to Texas and then came by covered wagon to Montana when Mrs. Brannin was 12 years old, locating first near Grey Cliff.

Deceased was married to Edwin Brannin at Big Timber on August 23, 1905. Following their marriage they resided on a ranch near Absarokee for a short time and then moved to a homestead above Melville. When Mr. Brannin was elected sheriff of Sweet Grass county in 1922 they moved to Big Timber. Mr. Brannin died in 1944.

Survivors are two sons, Lewis Brannin of Twodot and James Brannin of Big Timber; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Pelletier of Los Angeles; a brother, Everett Overhuls of Big Timber; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Lowry Chapel, with Rev. Robert Ward of Williamson, Ga., officiating. Music was by Mrs. A. Ronald McDonnell and Mrs. Margaret Busha, who sang "Lead Me Gently Home" and "Still Still With Thee," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Mervin Sell.

Pallbearers were Borddie Green, Byron Grosfield, Lloyd Rein, Victor Tronrud, Kermit Anderson and Frank Cosgriff. Interment was in Mountain View.
