Catdog Cake

We're celebrating my grandson's 4th birthday.

I asked him what kind of cake he wanted.  He was

supposed to say, "chocolate."  But instead

he said "a catdog cake."  So, this is what I

came up with.

 Cake batter

13x9” rectangular pan

2 small round (about 4”) pans

icing

decorations for cake

Pour cake batter into prepared pans.  When cooked, remove from pans

and cool.  Cut sheet cake as shown:

Put one round layer at the top left side of the sheet cake layer.

Cut the other round layer into a square and place on the other side.

Use some of the cake scraps for the ears.

Ice cake with a lighter color of chocolate icing, then use a darker color

to make spots.  Use licorice or toothpicks for the cat’s whiskers.

Use a marshmallow for the dog’s nose – cover with the

dark icing.  Cut a marshmallow for the eyes  and the dog’s teeth.

Use a pipe cleaner and dip in the dark icing,

then put it in the dog side for his 3 sprigs of hair.
