Edgar Floyd "Buster" Knapp

Edgar Floyd "Buster" Knapp ranched and worked for Montana Fish and Game Department for 25 years. He loved farming, fishing and hunting and enjoyed his family and friends.

Mr. Knapp, 87, died Friday in Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.

Born in Navina, Okla., a son of Charles and Florence McNeil Knapp, he came to Montana in a covered wagon with his family at 14, and they homestead in Sun Prairie. In 1927, he married Frances Phipps in Billings; she died in 1969. On Feb. 21, 1972, he married Viola Stewart in Evergreen Ala.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Richard of Dubois, Idaho, and Roger of Hysham; five stepsons, Carmel Stewart of Stapleton, Ala., Curt Stewart of Tomball, Texas, Buddy Stewart and J. W. Stewart, both of Bay Minette, Ala., and Douglas Stewart of Fairhope, Ala; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth) Coulter of Brussett and Mrs. James (Jessie) Ryan of Jordan; a step-daughter, Virginia Woods of Fairhope; two brothers, B. B. in Georgia and Frank in Arizona; a sister, Evelyn Spaller in Georgia; 33 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday in the Melstone Congregational Church with burial in the Big Timber Cemetery, Big Timber. Wier Funeral Home of Roundup is in charge.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Ed Ryan, Jerry Coulter, Rod Coulter, Floyd Knapp, Dana Knapp, Mike Knapp, Kenny Knapp, and Ronnie Stewart. Honorary pallbearers were all of his friends.

Memorials may be made to the Garfield County Museum, Garfield County Ambulance Service, Jordan Swimming Pool or the Melstone Congregational Church.
