Hold Services For Mrs. Louis Shipma

 

Mrs. Louis Shipma, a resident of this community for nearly fifty years, passed away at 8 o’clock Tuesday evening at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. And Mrs. Ed. Bos, with whom she had been making her home. She had been in failing health for the past year.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o’clock this afternoon at the Bos home, and two o’clock in the First Reformed church, with the Rev. W. H. Vandermeer officiating. Burial will be in the Fulton cemetery. Friends are asked to omit flowers.

Annie Vogel was born *November 18, 1844 in Warfum, Holland, and had she lived until her birthday anniversary next month she would have been ninety-four years of age. She, with her family, came to the United States in 1891.

She was united in marriage to Louis Shipma in The Netherlands, and to this union eight children were born. Her husband and three children, Mrs. Claus Geerts, Ren Shipma, and Mrs. Henry Tegeler, preceded her in death.

Those who survive are Mrs. Abel Aikens and Henry Shipma of Morrison, Mrs. Jacob Dykhuizen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Harry Shipma and Mrs. Ed. Bos of Fulton. There are also a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren in this community, and two sisters in The Netherlands, who will mourn her passing.

Mrs. Shipma was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a full member of the First Reformed church and she practiced the teachings of the church in her daily work. She lived a long and busy life, and with her life’s work done, she has truly earned that crown of glory awaiting her in heaven.
